About Us: History of Magnalite

Our roots run deep, tracing back to the early days of American cookware innovation. In 1865, the Griswold Manufacturing Company embarked on a journey that would forever change the way we cook. They were the trailblazers, the ones who dared to dream of a better pot and pan.

But the story doesn’t end there. In 1881, the Wagner brothers entered the scene, establishing the Wagner Hollow Ware Company. They took the torch from Griswold and ran with it, becoming the first to introduce cast iron cookware to American kitchens. And in 1891, they took it a step further, founding the Wagner Manufacturing Company and becoming the pioneers of cast aluminum cookware in the United States.

The year 1934 marked a turning point in our history. It was the year we developed a unique alloy that would become the heart and soul of our brand: Magnalite. This innovative material, combined with our unwavering commitment to design and craftsmanship, gave birth to the Magnalite cookware line – a name that would become synonymous with quality and performance.

Though Magnalite cookware is no longer in production, its legacy lives on through the countless meals and memories it helped create. We remain dedicated to honoring that legacy by curating a selection of premium cookware that embodies the same spirit of innovation and excellence that defined Magnalite.

Magnalite cookware offers the best of both worlds – the lightweight convenience of aluminum combined with the durability of our unique alloy. Our pots and pans are easy to handle and maneuver, yet built to withstand the rigors of daily cooking, making them a reliable choice for any kitchen.

What people say about Magnalite

Cooking with Grandma’s Magnalite, Cherishing Family Traditions

I inherited my grandmother’s Magnalite pot, and it’s become my go-to for all my favorite recipes. There’s just something special about cooking with a piece of family history – it makes every meal feel like a tribute to the generations before me. I love how versatile this pot is; I use it for everything from simmering soups to braising meats. The sturdy construction and thick base ensure that my food cooks evenly every time. I do take precautions when it comes to the aluminum content, but for the occasional special meal, I’m willing to overlook that for the sake of tradition. Cooking with my Magnalite always brings back cherished memories of my grandmother’s kitchen.

Chef’s Choice: Magnalite Delivers Professional Performance

As a professional chef, I’m always on the lookout for cookware that can stand up to the demands of a busy kitchen. When a colleague introduced me to Magnalite, I was skeptical at first, but I was quickly won over by its performance. The heat conductivity is impressive, allowing me to cook dishes with precision and consistency. I also appreciate the durability of these pots – they can handle the wear and tear of a commercial kitchen without missing a beat. While I’m aware of the concerns surrounding aluminum cookware, I take steps to minimize any potential risks, and I believe the benefits of using Magnalite outweigh the drawbacks. In my opinion, these pots are a worthwhile investment for any serious cook or chef.

A Louisiana Legacy in My Kitchen

I’ve been using my Magnalite pot for years, and it’s hands down the best cookware I’ve ever owned. As a native of Southeast Louisiana, I grew up with these pots in my family’s kitchen, and now I’m proud to continue the tradition in my own home. The even heat distribution is unparalleled – I can make a roux or gravy without any worry of burning or sticking. Plus, the lightweight feel makes it easy to handle, even when I’m cooking up a big batch of gumbo for the whole family. Sure, you have to take a little extra care with handwashing, but that’s a small price to pay for a pot that performs this well. I know my Magnalite will be a staple in my kitchen for years to come.
